Bucknell Fall Invite Day Two Results 

BALTIMORE - On the second day of the Bucknell University Fall Invitational on Saturday, the Loyola University Maryland men's and women's tennis teams each had one of its doubles teams advance into the final level of competition.

On the women's side, senior Amanda Lanciano and freshman Kateri Martin reached the finals in Flight 1 doubles play. They will play Nicole Beldacki and Louise van Agris of Indiana (Pa.) for the championship on Sunday.

Lanciano and Martin reached the finals with a 6-1 victory over Nastasia Tamarkin and Stephanie Miller of St. Francis (Pa.).

In other doubles action for the Greyhounds, freshmen Chloe Boustany and Jenna Granato won a consolation match in Flight 2 doubles, beating Hayley Mattis and Ruth Wilson of Lafayette, 6-1. Kendall Kutner and Gaba Horches of Loyola reached the semi-finals of Flight 2 doubles and lost to Alexa Cooke and Katie Hill of Lafayette, 6-2.

At Flight 1 doubles, sophomores Lin Robertson and Alexandria Agee lost in the consolation bracket to Nathalie Finch and Nicole Hutchinson of Howard, 6-0.

In the singles action, Julie Clark, Granato and Robertson were the Greyhounds' top performers. Robertson reached the semi-finals at Flight 2 singles where she lost to Howard's Hutchinson, 6-0, 6-1.

Clark reached the semi-finals at Flight 3 singles where she fell in a tough match to Danielle Gannon of Bucknell, 7-6, 6-2. Granato also reached the semi-finals at Flight 3 singles where she dropped a 6-1, 6-4 match to Rachel Carroll of Bucknell. Martin fell in the quarter-finals of the Flight 1 singles as Alexa Quintanilla of Mount St. Mary's pulled out a 6-0, 6-1 victory.Lanciano lost her Flight 1 consolation singles match to Beldacki of Indiana, 6-0.

On the men's side, senior Blest Jones and junior Brian Hoffarth each won a first round match at Flight 1 singles. Jones beat Laurent Lankes of Delaware, 6-3, 6-1. But he fell to Hofstra's Marcus Smith in a very close match, 6-4, 4-6, (10-8).

Hoffarth edged Dustin Britton of Delaware, 6-4, 4-6, (10-4) to win his first-round match. However, he dropped a 6-2, 6-0 verdict to Max Kane of Bucknell.

At Flight 2 singles for the men, junior C.J. Cash, senior Reid Burch and senior Tyler Blessing all fell in tight first round matches. Cash dropped a 6-0, 6-4 decision to Brandon Wortkotter of Mount St. Mary's while Burch fell to Jackson Wood of Mount St. Mary's, 2-6, 7-5 (10-4). Blessing dropped a 6-1, 1-6 (13-11) heartbreaker to Kyle Martin of Howard.

Sophomores Kyle Gower and Shaun Fitzmaurice represented the Greyhounds in Flight 3 singles and both of them fell in the first round. Gower lost to Parth Sharma of Mount St. Mary's, 0-6, 7-5 (10-7). Fitzmaurice dropped a 6-1, 7-5 match to Bucknall's Max Garramone.

The Greyhounds fared better at Flight 4 singles as junior Colin Kanuch and senior Jack Shortell each won first round matches while freshman Charlie Shanker reached the semi-finals.

Kanuch dispatched Noah Schott of Lafayette, 7-5, 6-2. But he fell to Timber Erskine of Bucknell in the second round, 6-2, 7-5. Shortell outlasted Chris Lindsey of Mount St. Mary's for a 1-6, 7-6 (10-6) victory in the first round. In the second round, Paul Caruso of Lafayette pulled out a 6-2, 6-4 win over Shortell.

Shanker advanced with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Adrien Crastes of Bucknell before posting a 3-6, 7-5 (13-11) victory over Evan Hines of Mount St. Mary's. Shanker will face Santiago Hass of Hofstra in the semi-finals on Sunday.

In doubles action, Jones and Fitzmaurice won their first-round match at Flight 1 doubles with a 6-3 win over Max Kane and Max Garramone of Bucknell. In the second round, Jones and Fitzmaurice lost to Niko Vullinovich and Coco Haener of Hofstra, 6-1.

Cash and Burch dropped their Flight 1 doubles match to Cole Gittens and Devaughn Blackburn of Howard, 6-3. Then, they lost in consolation action to Jackson Wood and Zach Burau of Mount St. Mary's.

In Flight 2 doubles, the Greyhounds posted one first round win but they did well in the consolation brackets.

After Shanker and Shortell pulled out a first round win over Lafayette, they dropped a 6-4 decision to Timber Erskine and Drew Krantz of Bucknell.

Blessing and Kanuch bounced back from a 7-6 loss to David Schrott and Nick Silvestri of Hofstra by advancing by default in the consolation bracket.

After a 6-0 loss to Parth Sharma and Chris Lindsey of Mount St. Mary's, Hoffarth and Gower bounced back with a pair of wins in the consolation bracket over teams from Lafayette. Hoffarth and Gower pulled out a 6-1 win over Chris Kim and Paul Caruso before posting a 6-1 victory over Daniel Kramer and Drew Rooks of Lafayette.

Hoffarth and Gower are scheduled to face Blessing and Kanuch in the consolation bracket finals on Sunday.

The Bucknell Fall Invitational wraps up on Sunday, starting at 9 a.m.
