Bucknell Fall Invite Final Results

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Senior Amanda Lanciano teamed up with freshman Kateri Martin to win the Flight 1 doubles title, highlighting Loyola University Maryland's participation in the Bucknell University Fall Tennis Invitational on Sunday.

Lanciano and Martin, who reached the finals with a 6-1 win over Nastasia Tamarkin and Stephanie Miller of St. Francis (Pa.) on Saturday, captured the title by beating Nicole Beldacki and Louise van Agris of Indiana (Pa.), 6-4.

In the consolation bracket of the Flight 1 doubles, seniors Nicole Eberle and Julie Clark of Loyola lost to Emilie Bush and Schuyler LaBarge of Bucknell, 6-1.

Freshmen Chloe Boustany and Jenna Granato also did well in Flight 2 doubles, winning the consolation bracket with a victory over Marina Valezuela and Flavia Flandoli of Indiana (Pa.).

On the men's side, freshman Charlie Shanker of Loyola finished as runner-up at Flight 4 singles. Shanker reached the finals with a hard-fought 2-6, 6-4 (10-8) victory over Santiago Haas of Hofstra in a match played on Sunday morning. However, Shanker fell short of winning the title as Timber Erskine of host Bucknell pulled out a 7-5, 6-2 victory.

Bucknell players won three of the four men's singles titles.

Next weekend, the Greyhound men's team returns to action when it competes in the Villanova Invitational. The women's squad will participate in the Towson University 4+1 Invitational.
