Season Opener

  • Loyola University Maryland volleyball hits the road to open the 2017 season when it travels to the North Carolina for the Springhill Suites Mayfaire Invitational.
  • The tournament will be the first of four the Greyhounds will take part in on consecutive weekends to start the season.
  • Loyola opens the year against host UNCW at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, before taking on Davidson later that day at 4:30 p.m. The Greyhounds close out the weekend by facing Appalachian State at 10 a.m.

Back In The Fold

Solid Sophomores

  • A quartet of sophomores, Erin Cunningham, Ann Ernst, Molly Jarvis and Zoe Pawlak ranked highly for the Greyhounds in several statistical categories as freshman.
  • Ernst topped all Patriot League freshmen with 326 kills and a 3.54 kills per set average, while Jarvis paced the team in hitting percentage (.247) and was second in blocks (60) and blocks per set (0.81). Cunningham was the team-leader, and the top freshman in the conference, in digs per set (4.08). Pawlak was third on the squad with 144 kills and an average of 1.76 per set.

New Faces

  • Five freshmen – three middle blockers and two setters – dot the 2017 Greyhounds’ roster, adding to the 11 returners. Clarke Dalton (Chicago), Mackenzie Fedota (Portland, Ore.) and Sydney Wilcenski (Warren, N.J.) will join the rotation of middle blockers, while Alaina Acchione (Phoenixville, Pa.) and Ashley Kozer (Norton, Ohio) will help with the setting.

Presence In The Middle

  • Junior Haley Puddy has been one of the Greyhounds’ top hitters and the team’s best blocker since coming to Loyola in 2015. She enters the year with 436 kills and 191 blocks through a pair of seasons.
